doubloon pendant with tahitian pearl
A stunning Tahitian black pearl is suspended from a gold flower inspired by ancient coins that I saw on St Helena island, which is in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean, when we stopped there on our Atlantic Ocean crossing.
Each gold flower is made individually by melting down recycled gold in a process that makes each one slightly different and unique. The organic texture is reminiscent of hand struck ancient coins and I used the floral motif on Spanish gold doubloons as inspiration.
The black pearl is a saltwater cultured pearl from the islands of French Polynesia. The pearl is not completely smooth, has a grey green body colour with purple overtone and is a teardrop shape with good lustre.
Pearl size 12x9mm
The pendant is just over 3cm long hanging on a 45cm gold chain. Solid 9 carat yellow gold.
